We strive to develop our culture, communicating tradition through our feelings, this helps us to bring a sense of satisfaction to the hearts of our clients and anyone concerned.
We hold the lacquer we use in high standards which sends a strong impression to our clients.
We nurture growth and abundance of each other by embracing our traditional style.
The land in Osaka where the lacquer wholesaler originated from has existed since the Edo period!!
The tradition of handing down lacquer production has been done for over 70 years. We work hard for the development of our lacquer culture.
In the Jomon period lacquer was used as glue and a protective agent in coffins.
It is said that “Tamamushinozushi” which is housed in the Horyuji Temple in Nara, brought lacquer coloring to the world.
Lacquer finishing is not as popular nowadays once used on chopsticks and on the most respected Buddhist altars, piano body and the bottom of ships used to be coated until the early Showa era.
As a wholesale dealer of lacquer and the birth place of lacquer and we administer Urushi-ya “The lacquer shop” in Osaka, our goal is to continue protecting this culture.
Before it's buried in oblivion, we would like to remind people of “Japanese lacquer culture” once more. We want people to feel the grace and dignity of Japanese lacquer culture as well as Japanese culture and pride.
This is YAMAKA's reason for existence to have people be happy and smile about our passion.
